Driven by the urgent need to reshape digital spaces, we talked to 14 feminist actors in Asia and co-created a new vision for feminist digital spaces in the region. By exploring systemic barriers and discussing solutions that can lead to feminist digital spaces, this exercise enabled us to concretely visualize and imagine the changes that we collectively wish to see. It also helped us to map pathways towards achieving those changes and heightened our awareness of the challenges ahead of us.
We want to work towards feminist digital futures rooted in justice, care and community. This vision paper is a call to action that responds to both the challenging digital context that we face and the inspiring initiatives that are already being undertaken in Asia and beyond. Together, we can shape and nurture digital spaces that are safe, inclusive and empowering for all. This is an invitation to continue resisting authoritarianism, patriarchy, capitalism and ableism in digital spaces.
Our collective vision of supportive, brave and joyful digital spaces where everyone can thrive is presented in this document.
